Helper Hives
We have a lot of ways to get involved.  Whether you are old or young, we need your help.  One of the most rewarding ways is to be a Hive Helper.  These people (mostly kids) tend hives for us through the year near their homes.  Others who may not want to tend hives, donate their property and allow us to tend hives on their land.  Still others donate the cost of a hive.  If you might be interested in any of this let us know at molandcar@hivesforlives.com.

Meet Luke, one of our Hive Helpers.  He is a High School senior in Malvern, PA and tends to two of the Hives for Lives hives.  The hives are located in Spring Road Preserve in Willistown, PA.  They are pollinating the Teaching and Pollination Garden that is part of this township's Open Space program.  When Luke is not tending bees, he runs Varsity Cross Country and Track, and juggles a heavy class schedule.
Meet Meredith.  She is a junior in West Chester, PA.  She is a Hive Helper.  Meredith tends two hives at the Skunk Hollow Community Farm.  Meredith's hives are home to bee demonstrations and education, and her bees are key pollinators of the Community Farm and the surrounding park Willows Park.  Meredith has been a Helper Bee for five years and is the President of Hives for Lives.  She also rocks at LAX and is Vice President of her Junior Class!
Meet Lexie, she is our youngest Hive Helper.  She is in fourth grade in Rosemont, PA and she tends hives with her grandfather and donates the honey at the end of the year to Hives for Lives.  Lexie is a member of the Chester County Beekeepers Association!
Meet Jan.  She is our Master Beekeeper and Mentor.  She lives in Westtown and has many, many hives of her own.  She used to be an oncology nurse so she is not only a bee fanatic, but also a huge enemy of cancer.  We are so appreciative for her help.

Meet Gramie, our Queen Bee.  It was our Gramie who got us into beekeeping and has supported us in Hives for Lives for years.  She tends over 10 hives with us in Virginia.
